HYALURONIC ACID FOR AMAZING SKIN!!!
Hyaluronic acid may not be as good as we thought it might be, although it can be amazing at the same time. Let me show you what I mean…
Some may not understand what hyaluronic acid is. Although if you are into skincare and health you may have heard of substance before, but many are may not about it.
Hyaluronic can be good or bad at the same time depending on your environment (where you live, humidity, temp, etc).
Hyaluronic acid also known as hyaluronan can be taken as a supplement orally or even as a skin care product topically.
First, what is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a clear, gooey substance that is naturally produced by your body. It is mainly found in skin, connective tissues and soft tissues on our body. As we age, the amount of hyaluronic acid we produce lessens over time.
In skin care, hyaluronic acid is used as a humectant. It is a substance that helps skin hold water and hydration for a long time (basically to retain water so you can be more lubricated). It can also draw water from your surroundings to hydrate your skin 24/7. It is especially beneficial for the outer layers of skin, but can also benefit the deeper layers of skin. It can make your skin more hydrated, radiant and youthful.
Now you know more about hyaluronic acid. Let’s talk about how to use it properly. If you don’t use it in the correct manner then you can really damage your skin in the long term.
- (MOST IMPORTANT) DON’T USE HYALURONIC ACID IN DRY CLIMATES: If you live in a fairly dry area (when the air is dry or not in a humid or moderately humid area like Arazona) then DO NOT AT ALL USE HYALURONIC ACID. When the environment is dry around you there is no moisture the hyaluronic acid can grab onto and pull into your skin, so your skin starts to pull moisture from deeper inside your skin. In the short term it may look nice, but in the long term it can damage the deeper layer of skin, therefore making it thinner, more brittle and look aged. You can use Hyaluronic acid in dry climates, but with a “barrier moisturizer”, although it is not prefered. There are so many things you can use instead of hyaluronic acid when living in a dryer area.
- Apply on damp skin: When you apply on damp skin, naturally the water in your skin will be absorbed faster because of the hyaluronic acid.
- There are no rules on day or night, you can use hyaluronic acid in the morning (when you wake up) and at night (when you are about to go to bed). Whatever works for you.
- Please apply on clean or exfoliated skin or after water based products like toners.
PRODUCT TYPES: Remember you can use hyaluronic acid products as a serum, cream and even as a supplement orally. Whatever works for you. Serum and creams are the 2 most common ways you can use hyaluronic acid as a topical products. Serums and gels are really easy to absorb into your skin (since they are lightweight and have thinner viscosity), a cream can double as a moisturizer and a hyaluronic source (although serums are normally more concentrated with hyaluronic acid or any main ingredient, creams are more subtle with the percentage, but still give many benefits). You can customize your skincare routine with any hyaluronic acid source.
Disclaimer: Side effects may be
- pain.
- redness.
- itching.
- swelling.
- bruising.
Hyaluronic acid can be very beneficial if used cautiously, but it’s not for everyone. It can be very moisturizing, hydrating and reduce redness and even the skin tone. The best part is most moisturizers, serums or gels with hyaluronic acid in it normally do not clog pores and reduce acne and redness. Hyaluronic acid is amazing for every skin type, sensitive, acne prone (oily skin), dry, combination and ect.
