Satisfaction gives you the most happiness in your life, and satisfaction in life comes mostly from gratitude in your life. When you appreciate something you automatically have gratitude for something. Gratefulness is a great trait to have because you appreciate everything in your life, so you feel more satisfied. The answer to more happiness is simply gratitude.

Most of the time when you are grateful it most likely means that you are satisfied, or happy with your life. It also means that you have no complaints about your life, and that you only see the good in it. Gratitude helps people be very focused on what they have instead of what they lack. True gratitude gives you Joy, love, and contentment in your life.

“There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved. “

— George Sand

Research actually shows that gratitude opens doors to more relationships, improves physical health, and psychological health, enhances empathy, and reduces aggression. It also improves self-esteem, reduces stress, and helps you sleep better. Just think about it, if you’re grateful, you automatically forget about all the negative things in your life, you focus on the positive things, you focus on what you have (not what you don’t have) and you’re grateful for what you have, you feel blessed. Gratitude is actually pretty logical.

So, how do you have more gratitude in your life, or how do you incorporate more gratitude in your life?

Sometimes we just don’t feel grateful, sometimes we forget to “practice” it, (and yes, you have to “practice” gratitude). Sometimes we just focus on the negative things in our lives and make our own lives go out of track. Here are some simple things that I do to make sure that I stay grateful for everything in my life. These things just take 5 minutes max.

  1. I write 5 things I’m grateful for everyday before I go to bed. This is a great way to make me feel better about your life, and it’s a great way to practice gratitude every single day. It is so simple, it just takes 1 or 2 minutes a day, and it drastically changed my life.
  2. If you want more, you can have a gratitude journal and write in a journal every single day. Just write about your day, or right about what you’re grateful for, or write about all the positive things in your day to make yourself feel better. Journaling is a really great way to get your mind off things and to go in-depth about what you love about your life. This tip really reflects on the first tip I gave.
  3. Another thing I do is I don’t like to waste. This is a very weird way that I practice gratitude because if I waste something that I know that I’m not being grateful for it and that someone else may need it more. So if I don’t use it I just donate or do something useful with it. I try to give back to the world because I am grateful for what the world is offering me. So not wasting, volunteering, and donating are some ways that I really like to give back to the world, and show my gratitude.
  4. Meditation is a great way to practice gratitude. I love to do walking meditations. They have guided meditation because they make us think more of our surroundings and they make us realize so much more around us. I love walking meditation because as I walk through my neighborhood or when you go hiking and when you put your earbuds in and here and meditation or the nice music you just feel so grateful that you’re in living this moment and you’re so grateful for the world and nature around you that you’re seeing.
  5. Sometimes you just wake up feeling so tired, or sad. Sometimes I just feel like I’m not doing enough or I’m not grateful for myself. Something that really helped me was writing small notes to myself around my room or around my bathroom so I constantly remind myself that I am good enough and that I’m proud of myself. This really helps my self-esteem, and it also helps me take care of myself. Sometimes I really neglect self-care and I know that we all do it because of something that’s going on in our lives or because we’re so busy and this helps me to make sure that I take at least ten minutes every single day. It’s just for me. This also helps me be grateful for every single day of my life oh, and I’m thankful for myself. I’m grateful for my body, I am grateful for my health, and everything that the Universe gave to me.

You must realize happiness is not an outcome of current circumstances. One thing that I learned in my life is that happiness starts with us. It starts with acceptance and seeing the beauty in life. It starts by accepting ourselves and seeing the beauty within us. We are the only ones that can make ourselves happier. Gratitude made a huge change in my life, but keep in mind gratitude is not the only way to become happier. You can try meditation, a healthy lifestyle (sleep well, eat healthy, biological clock), managing stress, don’t compare, focusing on the good things in your life, and more. Gratitude is the best way (in my opinion) to be happier because it not only keeps us satisfied with life, but also lowers stress, keeps us mindful, and improves our mood. Gratitude gave me a whole new attitude toward life and it makes any situation a better one. Just try it and see how much more relieved and happy you feel.
