The Cycle of Injustice and Self-Realization
The injustices of this world are undeniable and often unexplainable. History reflects a troubling truth: the root of injustice often lies in human emotion — particularly the nine negative emotions that surround us. As a 17-year-old Indian girl writing this blog, I may seem young, but I’ve witnessed and understood many injustices in life. These emotions were introduced to me not only through life experiences but also as a Bharatanatyam dancer. This classical Indian dance was designed to suppress those negative emotions within us, fostering discipline and harmony — a foundation for justice.
But as I witness the increasing injustice around the world today, I feel those very negative emotions creeping into me. Just this morning, scrolling through social media, I saw images of innocent women, children, and men tortured and killed by the Taliban for no justifiable reason. I cannot place the blame on their culture alone; it’s a vicious cycle of brainwashing and the exploitation of traditions. If I could, I would stop all the injustices of the world today. Starting now, I vow to make small changes within myself to bring positive change to the world around me. The cycle of injustice continues because powerful people — the ones with the ability to bring change — choose silence due to fear or choose injustice for themselves.
