How Are You?

Have you ever asked that question to yourself? Have you ever thought of how you were? When people ask “how are you?”, you probably would have responded with “oh, I’m fine”, “good”, or even “great.” While there is some truth to that, is that what you are feeling at that moment? Are you hiding your real emotions? Well, now I’m asking you to think about it. Are you okay? Are you happy, grateful, or sad? What is going on in your life right now? Think at the moment. How are you feeling? What is bothering you and making you happy? Take a moment to reflect on your day. See how far you have come and feel grateful and proud of yourself for doing it. And just know, it is okay to vent. We all have difficulties, regret, and sorrow in our lives, and rather than just sucking it up and trying our best to feel grateful. Write down your difficulties and sorrows you’ll find that being grateful and happy will come naturally. Think about what is hurting so much. I would always feel guilty whenever I was sad or mad. I would think that I was acting ungrateful when in reality it is just better to come out with our emotions. It’s okay to feel sad, angry, or down. Life may not always go as planned, but just know better plans are waiting for you. This does not mean complaining, or being ungrateful in your life. It just means being truthful about your feelings and your life. You don’t always have to love your current situation, it's okay to dislike things.

Finally, I’m going to ask you, how are you? In this beautiful moment reflect on how you are doing and what you need to improve. Reflect on all your blessings and hurt. Vent to your heart’s content. Trust me you’ll feel way better and lighter.
